- [Instructor] Once we have our STL file, or our graphics body geometry inside of SolidWorks, we're going to want to leverage what we have existing as a reference, to create surfaces, for example. So using the Create surface from mesh feature, we can replicate the surfaces of all of these facets, without having all of the geometry in there that's additional. So, I'm going to go to Insert, Surface and Surface from mesh. Like all the other mesh selection tools, it gives you that Paint Select feature, so you can select multiple facets. This tool can make planer surfaces, spherical surfaces, cylindrical surfaces and conical surfaces. Generally, it wants to know which one of these you're trying to make, because it's going to try to approximate and fill in the gaps. So I'm just going to do a planer surface, and I'm going to try to estimate this top surface right here of my mold piece. So, I'm going to click Paint select. Notice the Paint select window comes up.
