- OK, so here we go with a few quick tips and tricks for getting your parts fabricated easier, faster and better. Number one is: use standard sized material. Now there's a lot of different materials. If you've downloaded a material library from SolidWorks or you've created your own, make sure the supplier you're using, the fabrication shop or the material supplier stocks that material, because a lot of time there's random-sized materials that are obscure or hard to find and that's going to drive the cost up and make it a lot harder to get that material to build your parts, so definitely, if you're selecting material, right over here on my structural member, if I edit that I can take a look at under ANSI inch I've got all types of random materials. Right here this is an aluminium T Section, I'm not sure how common that one is, but it's not something that you see everyday.
