Fillets: Spur gear modeling - SOLIDWORKS Tutorial
From the course: SOLIDWORKS: Modeling Gears
Fillets: Spur gear modeling
- [Instructor] Our next step is to create two basic equation-driven fillets at the base of our tooth to complete our tooth cut profile. We're going to open up the fillet command. For the fillet type we'll keep it set to Constant size. For the Items to Fillet, we are going to select the two edges at the base of our cut. For the fillet parameters, we'll keep it set to symmetric. And we're going to enter in an equation for our radius value. So this will be equal to our module times 0.38 millimeters. Hit the green checkbox to create the equation. And close out the fillet command. Now, if we double-click on our fillets from the Feature Manager tree, we see that our dimension has a red Sigma, confirming that it is linked to the global variable for the module, so that as the module increases, so will the fillet radius. Now that our profile is complete, we're ready to pattern our cut and create our finished spur gear.
