Finding mass properties

- Solidworks has the ability to give the exact weight of an object based upon the material that's selected as well as the shape of the object that you've designed. I've designed here a kettle bell and I want to weigh it and see how much this piece is going to weigh. First things first, I need to apply a certain material so I get an accurate weight of my final part. This is going to be cast iron so I'm going to go over here and click on Material, right click on it and click on Edit Materials, and I'm going to click under Steel, then look under Iron, and we're going to go Gray Cast Iron. Click on Apply, and click on Close, and notice the color change as well as the material. You can see it now shows up as gray cast iron. Now I can come over here and click on Evaluate and click on Mass Properties. So under Mass Properties, this is going to weigh 71.92 pounds. So it's going to be a pretty heavy kettle bell. I can modify that if I was looking for a specific weight, like an 80 pound kettle…
