Inserting features

- [Instructor] Moving forward to our insertion features, here we can see in our spline tools window that we have insert spline point; that's kind of similar to our tangency control, and our curvature control that we add in, it adds a new point. But this is actually a spline point like the points that come in it originally, so I'm going to go ahead and click that, click on here, and add a new point. Now that effect is a lot different than the controls that we added before, which just really changes the curvature. This controls the whole geometry, this point just moves along the geometry, so to speak, and adjusts the tug and pull so, a little bit different. If we go down to our spline tools, we can also see that there is an insert control vertex, if you're using a style spline you can add some of those. It's like the other thing, it's a little bit more of an art, so depending on what you're spline shape is you might not want to insert more points. But all you really do is, turn on this point tool and start selecting the new points that you want to add. When you're done with it, you hit escape, and you just snap back to your normal options. You can go in and delete the points after the fact, if you want to; which is always a good idea if it gets over constrained. But sometimes you'll delete too many, and sometimes you'll get confused between your original points and your other points, so don't add too many of these if you don't have to. A good rule of thumb is to limit all of these controls and insertion points as much as you can to get you the simplest shape.
