Mechanical mates - SOLIDWORKS Tutorial
From the course: SOLIDWORKS 2016 Essential Training
Mechanical mates
- If you're working with any type of mechanical assembly inside of SOLIDWORKS, there are a bunch of mates that are going to really help out. Click on Mate, and then come down here to Mechanical Mates. We are going to go through all these individual mates. So the first one here is Cam. So with the Cam I'm going to choose both the Cam Path as well as the Cam Follower. So for the Cam Follower, I'm going to choose the top surface here, and for the Cam Path, I'm going to go ahead and choose the outside of this Cam that I've already previously designed. Click on OK, and now as I move this around, you can see that that follows and makes a Cam type motion. Alright, that's the first one. The next one is going to be a slot. So click on Slot, and I'm going to choose the Mate Selection of the inside of the slot right here, and then the outside of this little pin right here, and those just slide together, and now I've got a slot made, so this will move only inside that slot. Pretty handy mate…
