Performance settings

- [Instructor] When adjusting the systems options to improve performance, one of the more obvious areas to go to make adjustments is the performance section. So once in the systems options we click on performance and see all of these options before us. So to increase our performance in general, you're going to turn a lot of this off. So verification on rebuild is off, ignore self-intersection check for some sheet metal features is off, but that won't effect most of the work you do. Transparency should be set off of high quality for normal and dynamic view modes. Down in level of detail, you want to take this all the way to off. Now that might mean that your curvature of your models is going to look weird. Things can look blocky and clunky until you zoom in on 'em, but as you edit those parts, they will become more clear and the graphics will load. You might have to come back and adjust this and just make it less, but if you can go with off, do so. And assemblies, we're going to automatically load components in lightweight mode. We're not going to always resolve subassemblies because we want to keep things lightweight. Check out-of-date lightweight components we're going to switch this to indicate and we're going to keep resolve lightweight components to prompt and rebuild assembly on load to prompt. This just keeps it so the feature tree is going through and recalculating itself over and over to reverify the build. Down here for the animation speeds, these should all be turned to off. For the mate animation speed, that's when you make a mate between two parts and you see it fly across the screen with an animation. Instead, it'll just simply go from where it is, to the other location in snap, which is fine. You don't need the animation. SmartMate sensitivity, same thing. Turn it off. And for magnetic mate proximity, you're going to leave that one alone for now, unless you find out that magnetic mates are slowing you down, which they shouldn't be. Down here we're going to keep purge cached configuration data off, update mass properties while saving off. You can use the shaded preview, but no preview during open, 'cause it makes it faster. Now with all of these options selected, you simply click OK and go back to work.
