Piston and camshaft assembly
- Next, we want to create a sub-assembly of our piston, cam-shaft, and the valve components. For that, let's start a new assembly and we'll add the Piston Final Part as a fixed component. Let's save this assembly as "Piston and Cam-shaft Assembly," again within the Assembly Components Folder. And then let's insert components and add the cam assembly from the Assembly Components Folder. Now click anywhere in the Graphics View to place the sub-assembly. To get the sub-assembly mated, since this is already an assembly. We will want to make it flexible, so we have individual control over the cam-assembly's components. Now to do this, simply select the cam-assembly in the Feature Manager and then from the Context toolbar select the "Make Sub-Assembly Flexible" icon. Notice the changed icon, to indicate this flexible state to us. And you will notice we can now independently move each component group within the assembly. Which is exactly what we need.
