Plane

- [Instructor] Sometimes when we're working on a 3D sketch, we want to have a plane in here, but don't want to leave the sketch that we're working on to insert it. If you go to tools, sketch entities, and plane, that actually allows you to use the geometry that you have there to create another sketch plane inside of your 3D sketch. I'm going to select this point as my first reference and then on the top plane, you can see I've got a preview here. I'm going to go ahead and click OK and now I've got this new grids view that comes up indicating a new sketch plane to work on. Now, if I grab this and start moving it around, it's actually attached to that point and is going to have an effect on the 3D sketch in the background, it's all connected together. I can also expand it, scale it out, scale it down, do all kinds of things like that, but right here I can connect to that point and start maybe drawing another curve or some other more complex geometry in this direction. When I'm done, I just go ahead and hit accept and you can see it's added it all in there. Now, I have two planes inside of this 3D sketch, but in my feature tree, you just see the single feature for the 3D sketch. This keeps it very compact and altogether in a tight, little bundle so if you have to go back and edit this sketch, you can just double-click on these planes to move them, to edit them, and to edit the geometry that's on them and it creates a nice little grouping around in your single 3D sketch. Just another way to manipulate the geometry inside of a 3D sketch.
