Power trim tricks

- [Instructor] Power trim is one of the great tools we have for editing sketches and modifying them and you're more than likely familiar with the standard power trim, so if you're not let me just give you a quick refresher. So come up here under sketch, go to trim entities, click on that, and my very first option here is power trim and I pretty much only leave that just on power trim. The other ones are great but I'm going to go ahead and just left mouse click and hold it down. And notice I get this little gray line. So pretty much anything this gray line draws through it automatically gets trimmed up to the next closest thing. So I come over here I can trim something away as well and if I let go that line kind of goes away. So that line just kind of shows you the path that you drew that trimmed your entities away. Now what you might not know is you can also click on individual lines. And notice very closely that that line actually has two colors. It has a blue top and then it has a kind of an orange bottom section and it follows wherever my cursor happens to be. So notice its kind of sliding up and down while my cursor goes up and down. And if I were to click it would automatically make that line that much shorter. Same thing if you click on that line again and go forward. Notice it extends that line as far as you'd like to. So you can just extend it automatically in the power trim command, so you can choose pretty much any one of these entities by clicking on them. And notice as I go backwards it kind of shows it blue and yellow or blue and orange. And as I go forward it extends that up to these other entities and I can go as far as I'd like. So not only can you trim things away using power trim but you can also extend them very easily or lengthen or shorten the lines all within that same command without having to really do anything else besides select those entities. Now if you extend it I can also go back and just start doing regular power trim like I was doing before by drawing a line through things. But that's one more cool little thing that power trim can add to your tool set.
