Quick reference planes

- [Instructor] A super quick way to create a reference plane is by selecting an existing plane, holding down Control, and then dragging out the plane to where you'd like it to be. Let me show you how that works. Now you have three fundamental planes. You've got the front plane right over here, you got the top plane, and you have the right plane which are automatically in every SolidWorks document. Let's go ahead and just turn that plane on so we can see it. Here's our friendly right plane. Now if you wanted a new plane parallel to this one, you can just hold down Control, select the plane here, and just kind of drag it out. If you want one more, go ahead and click on okay, click on that plane one more time, hold down Control, drag out another one. Very simple and easy. And notice, once you've drug a plane out, now we have the dialog box that pops up right here, and you can modify that plane. So you can define a distance if you'd like to.
