- [Narrator] When you have assemblies with interlocking parts you want to make sure that there's no interference. So sometimes you use existing geometry to create the other parts. In the case of this plate, I had another plate that has to sink into it and I copied the geometry inside of this sketch to create it. When I was done, though, I broke some of the relationships so that it wouldn't be edited after the fact. This is called in-context editing. To know what references I have in just this sketch, I can click on display delete relations and go to external and see that I have some relations to another item. In particular for this one I have a drawing in the background and then a coincident part on one of these centers. So if I back out and take a look at my feature tree, you can see here that any of the features that have this little dash and an arrow next to it are indicating that there's an external reference that you have to be aware of.
