- [Instructor] When importing geometry into Solid Works from other applications, many different file types can be handled. Let's find out what file types are available to us today. Going to the open dialogue box, we click on the all files dropdown and see a list of files available. Now, we know the Solid Works part files and assembly files types that we're used to here, but, as you go down, you see many other file types that can be handled. Typical 2D file types, such as DXF and DWG. Illustration file types, such as Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator, which can be used by plugging in the Adobe add-in. Our template file types, for making library features in Solid Works and templates. And then we move down to other foreign types, such as Parasolid, IGES, and STEP, which are all dumsolids, which we'll be importing in this course.
