- [Instructor] When working with mesh files there will come times when you want to convert surface bodies into solid bodies. One of the ways that we can do this is using the Thicken feature. Let's go ahead and take this surface we have here and thicken it. Going up to Insert, Boss, and then Thicken. We can now select a surface. I'm going to click on that surface and you can see automatically that it's thickening to one side or the other. You can also make it thicken like a midplane and thicken on both sides out by set thickness. So we get a little preview here where those faces are going to end. And you can turn this up as high as it can handle based on the geometry that you have. So, you see down here how I've got some intersecting parts. If I just keep turning this up eventually it's going to fail or just turn into one big blob. Let's see what we get here with 1.35". Yeah, unable to thicken the surface.
