Treehouse user interface

- [Instructor] One of my favorite parts of SolidWorks is the SolidWorks Treehouse. This gives you the ability to create a brand new SolidWorks tree or file structure before you even open SolidWorks. And you can handle a lot of the things like metadata or inserting components that are purchased right off the top. So I'm going to go down here and go to the start file, scroll down to SolidWorks tools, and select SolidWorks Treehouse. Now you can see that we have the interface in front of us. From left to right, first we have templates, and usually you want to start with an assembly file to create a structure because otherwise, it's just a part and a drawing and you wouldn't really need this tool to do that. So for example, I can grab this ULC Assembly Inch template that I made for my office and drag it into the center screen. Now I have the ability to add more assemblies underneath it and grow this assembly. Sub-assemblies inside of those and parts as well. So you can see I'm just dragging and dropping these in and slowly building up a feature tree with sub-assemblies. I can also assign drawings to each of these if they need them. And they'll all be different types of templates as well. Now you'll notice up in the top corner where I've added drawings, that there's a little drawing icon that you can turn on and off. There's also configurations, properties, the name or we can zoom out and see everything. If we go to the bottom we have trash, so let's say we want to get rid of this part, I can click, hold down on that and drag it to the trash and delete it out of the tree. Going across the top, we have zoom to area, zoom to fit, keep new documents on screen, display and list view which gives you a list right here. New, open, save, you can save this project as a ASM Tree, that's a Treehouse file, export to SolidWorks, open in Excel, or print. Also down on the bottom we have the Treehouse options. So these are all the main components of the Treehouse interface. In the next videos, we're going to look at some of the other things that we can do with files and templates inside of Treehouse.
