Trimming and extending portions of a sketch
- The trim tool is a great way to slice and dice up your sketch to get the shape you're looking for. It's pretty straightforward and easy to use so let's go ahead and jump right in. Up here under Trim Entities, click on that one there, we've got all these different modes. We have the Power trim, the Corner trim, the Trim away inside, Trim away outside, and Trim to closest. Now, my favorite and pretty much the only one I really use is this Power trim, so let's do that one last. Let's go ahead and start at the very bottom, which is Trim to closest. If you click on this line right here, notice it will highlight in red showing the piece that will be cut away. Same thing in here, if I highlight this it'll just kind of trim it to the closest things it can find. If you go and undo that, you can then come back, go back up to trim, Trim to closest, we'll just kind of delete things like that, and just trim 'em away to the closest thing it can find.
