Using the Convert Entities tool
- Solidworks has a tool called Convert Entities. What that does, it allows me to bring individual edges or faces into my current sketch. To get started, let's go ahead and start a sketch on this new plane here We're going to be getting into creating reference planes up in a future chapter. However, right now, I do have that plane, and I want to start a sketch. In that sketch I want to bring this individual face up into that sketch. Do you see the sketches up above it? I'm going to click on Convert Entities. My entity I would like to convert is going to be this entire face. And go ahead and I'm going to turn these options off for right now. Click OK. And it brings that whole outside profile directly into my current sketch. It's a reference, so if anything changes in this part here, it will automatically adjust in the sketch that I just converted. If I want to bring in these inside edges here, I can click on the edge itself, and click on Convert Entity, it's going to bring it in, same…
