Using the Mirror command
- Suppose I wanted to create a part that looks a lot like this. I could define this all as one sketch and extrude it out as you see here. However notice that this part is symmetrical. Both the right hand and left hand side of this part look the same as well as the top and the bottom. So why not just design one quarter of this part? So let's take a look at that sketch. Here's the sketch, let's open it up, and then click Normal too so I'm looking straight down at it, and see there's not that many dimensions here. However we've designed this fairly cleanly, it could be a lot worse than this. But let's just go ahead and refine this down to being just one quarter of this shape. Let's add a couple lines there, and then grab our Trim tool and let's just trim all this other information out. Using the Power Trim remove all of that information and now we're down to just this one piece. I'm going to go ahead and delete that out of there.
