Using the auto-dimension tools
- When you're working with a model, a lot of times there's a lot of dimensions to add and that can take a long time. SOLIDWORKS actually has an Auto Dimensioning tool built in that will automatically add all the dimensions to your model. So let's go up here to Smart Dimension. Turn that on. And if you click on the little tab over here that says Auto Dimension, turn on that. Now it gives the option to choose the scheme of how you want to dimension your model as well as your baselines. So notice the baseline here in pink is showing on the left-hand side and I'm going to zoom in here. And then the bottom baseline is this one in purple, and that's fine. If you want to change it to something else you can go ahead and just choose it, but those baselines look just fine to me. Now as far as the scheme, I can choose either a chain, a baseline, or an ordinate dimension. I'm going to keep it at baseline for right now, and same thing on the other direction. Then when everything looks good, just…
