Weldment part modification
- [Man] There's two basic ways to modify a Weldment part. One is which we have an underlying sketch which defines the shape here. Click on the sketch number one, which is the shape. Go ahead and edit that sketch. I'm going to click normal to it. I'm going to change a couple dimensions here. I'm going to change this one to 48, make it a little bit longer. Let's go ahead and delete this relationship here and this one over here. And let's kind of just drag this down here (mumbles) funny angle, exit out of the sketch, and you can see, automatically, the Weldment rebuilds using the same structural member, and it just accommodates it based upon the new sketch. So, pretty straightforward and easy to modify a Weldment just by changing the underlying sketch. Now, we can also change the Weldment profile. Now, if you look at that Weldment profile, we can go over here and open it up, click on open, and then we're under Exercise Files here, under Templates, open that up, we have these Weldment Profiles done, inside of those profiles in Metric, and then down here we have that P one. I can go ahead and open that up. That's the profile we're using right now. If you want to modify that, just go ahead and make a change, no big deal. Edit the sketch. Change something. Let's change this one to 200. And, now, I don't want to modify the part for everything I've used it for, because anything I change here will change all of the parts that use that Weldment profile, so let's go ahead and save that as something new, so I'm going to go ahead and do a Save As. Before I do that, I have to make sure I choose the sketch itself, which it already is a library part, but I'm going to change it in name, too. It is a library feature part already, so let's go ahead and make that a P three, click on save. It's now saved it as P three. I can close back out of that. Now this one's still using P one, though, so go back over here to the feature itself, it is using P one, you should see P three now, make that change, and automatically the Weldment updates with a new profile, so you can either change or actually modify the existing part, or do a Save As with a modified part, and add a new profile to your design library. Either way, it's pretty quick and easy to make either part level modifications, or, actually structural modifications to the profile.
