What is cross-referencing?
- Cross referencing is used to indicate associations between symbols across multiple drawings. So, say for example, again we have our contactor component here, K1, most likely it's broken up into a number of different symbols and those symbols are spread over a whole bunch of different pages. It's a large project, maybe it's spread over 50 different pages. So finding where all of those symbols are within our large project can be a difficult process. But thanks to cross-referencing, this process is greatly simplified. So if I take a look at my K1 here, notice just at the top here I have something telling me "05." So what that is, is an example of cross-referencing. This is telling me that the parent component of this K1 contactor is actually located on page five. Right now, I'm on page three, which is the line diagram. I can actually grab this component, maybe right-click on it, and I have a option to "Go To." This "Go To" shows me all of the other symbols associated with this same K1…
