- [Instructor] The first assumption for the paired T-test is that there must be one dependent variable that's continuous. Time is certainly continuous, so we can go and check that. The second assumption is that there must be one independent variable that consists of two and only two categories or related groups. These groups should not be independent. There should be the same participants in each group unless you're using the cross design that I mentioned that reduces biases. Regardless, the starting participants should remain the same. We have the same participants throughout in our design, so that really shouldn't be an issue. Also, we have two categories or related groups, the carb supplement category and the protein supplement category. The third assumption is that there are no significant outliers and the differences between the two treatments.
