Adding or removing features
There may be occasions where you've installed an instance of SQL Server for a specific usage scenario. But later you decide that you want to use the instance for other purposes. One example might be, an installed instance that only acted as a simple database server when you didn't have any other components installed. You realize perhaps that the business could benefit from reporting services, or you needed to install analysis services and it wasn't present before. Rather than going through a completely new installation of another instance of SQL Server, you can simply modify an existing installation and add or remove all of the features that you find necessary. There is a couple of different ways of doing this. You can simply install the SQL Server media into the drive again and run the setup, and start basically installing from that process again.
