Back up databases to Azure
- [Instructor] Database backups are typically stored offsite in order to mitigate against the loss of both the main server and the backup files due to a fire, flood, or other natural disasters. Increasingly, cloud storage is being chosen for this task since it's effectively limitless, easy to access, and secure. Further, with the ability to georeplicate your cloud storage account, additional backups can be physically stored thousands of miles apart, further lessening the chance of loss due to a major catastrophic event. Azure Blob Storage is a perfect fit for hosting offsite cloud backups of your SQL Server databases. It's easy to configure, we'll just start here inside of the Microsoft Azure Portal, and we'll come over to the left and click on storage accounts. Then we're going to create a new storage account for our database backups, I'll go up to the top and press the add button. On the create storage account blade, I'll go ahead and give it a name. This has to be all lowercase…
