- I'm ready to install Microsoft SQL Server 2014. I've loaded up the disk, and I'm going to double-click on setup.exe. In the SQL Server installation center, on the left side I'm going to choose Installation, and here I'll choose the top option, New SQL Server stand-alone installation. On the first screen of SQL Server 2014 setup I can choose the edition, I have a few choices of different evaluation or express editions, but I'm gonna go ahead and go with the product key I have for Enterprise edition, and I'll click Next. Make sure you read and understand the license. Check the box for I accept the license terms and click next. Here in the Install Rules it's gone through a handful of checks. Most of them I have passed, and you'll see that signified by the green check-mark. There is one warning concerning the Windows Firewall, and that's where I have the yellow exclamation point. I'm not going to worry about that too much right now. I don't necessarily need this machine to communicate…
