Create and manage operators

- [Instructor] In order for the SQL Server Agent to send notifications, it needs to know who to send it to. To do this, we'll create a list of operators. Operators are simply the people that have had their contact information saved into Agent. These people don't have to have matching server logins or database user accounts, although they can. This allows people in your organization to be connected to the SQL Server Agent notification system without actually having access to the server. To create an operator, we're going to go into the SQL Server Agent over in the Object Explorer. Now my Agent isn't actually running right now, so I'll just right click on it and choose Start. Then, I'll press Yes to the dialog boxes that pop up. Once the Agent is running, we'll go ahead and expand it open, and then we'll take a look at the Operators folder.
