Once we've selected our features and click Next, SQL Server will go through the process of checking some installation rules. This is to determine any of the processes will be blocked during the setup based on the options that we chose in the previous screen. Let's look at the details. Notice that SQL checked for any prior Visual Studio 2010 instances that might require updates. In the update language compatibility issues and making sure that dot NET framework 3.5 is installed on Windows 8 or higher operating systems. We passed all of these so we can go ahead and click Next to continue the setup. SQL server will install on a system as either a default instance or a named instance. The default instance means that the SQL Server process or instance for the database engine doesn't have a name.
