- [Instructor] Now that we've covered a lot of the planning, considerations, and the prerequisites for installing SQL Server. Let's go ahead and look at doing the actual installation. One of the first things you'll want to do as you start the install for SQL Server is to do the hardware and software requirements and make sure that your system is ready for the installation. Clicking the hardware and software requirements link will pop open a website, allowing you to view all of the different hardware and software needs for this specific edition of SQL Server that you're going to be installing. Once you're sure that your hardware and software is in place, it's also a good idea to run the system configuration checker. Running this, the system will basically run through a few steps to verify that there are certain prerequisites in place.
