Welcome

- [Adam] Hi, my name is Adam Wilbert and I'd like to welcome you to SQL Server 2016: Administer a Database Infrastructure. In this course, we're going to take a look at many of the features of SQL Server that work together to protect, secure and support the databases that you manage. We'll start with a look at the data encryption strategies that can be deployed to make sure your data remains visible to only those with the correct decryption keys in place. With user permissions and walls, you can control who has access to what features of the database. And we'll supplement both of those topics with a look at row level security and dynamic data masking. With SQL Server audit, we can gain insight into the health and performance of the system, in order to guide upgrade and tuning strategies. We'll also touch on backup and installer scenarios, activity monitoring and indexing free execution time management. Finally at the end of the course, we'll see how to implement some of the high availability features of SQL Server that can ensure that the system responds gracefully to hardware failures. There is a lot to cover but in the end, you will have the tools and strategies needed to better administer a SQL Server infrastructure. So, let's go ahead and get started.
