- [Instructor] Before taking this course, it's important to understand some of the knowledge and skillset that we expect from the students. First and foremost, you need to know how to install applications on your specific operating system. More specifically, you'll need to know how to install and run Microsoft SQL Server. You'll also need to know some SQL administrative tasks, how to create databases, how to restore databases or how to attach databases, and also understand how to set up security so that you're able to actually get into the database and run the commands that you will be executing throughout this course. It's also important that you know how to work with a file system and how to download files from the internet and how to open files and manage them on your local hard drive.
