Preset #4: Classic pluck
- Getting a basic sound up and running in Serum is fairly simple. It's adding the small details like real-time modulation and effects that take time to get right. Let's take a look at a pluck type sound where we use macros to add both effects and additional modulation. As a reminder, you can find the demo MIDI clip that I'm using and a related Ableton set in the Learning Serum folder. If you're not an Ableton user, import the MIDI file to a track in your DAW and add serum to the track to follow along. So let's start by going up to our presets folder. And we'll go in user and learning Serum presets. And let's load the macro pluck start patch. So this is a fairly simple sound. We're just using a digital saw wave and there's light unison and de-tuning Happening on both oscillators. The interesting thing here is with the noise oscillator. Let's turn off oscillators A and B.
