- [Voiceover] Now, there are several types of DNS servers that function within this DNS hierarchy. Each of them behaves slightly differently depending upon the job it's been given to do. The first I wanna talk about is a recursive DNS server. This is because this is a very common type of DNS server, and it really does the job that I've described to you as being kind of the way that DNS is meant to work, right? It is able to traverse the entire hierarchy of the DNS system, all the way to the root servers through the top level domains, through your domain, it's able to pull all of that information together in order to resolve the information requested of it and give that information back as an answer to your client system. So, this is really really cool right? Because if it couldn't do this, that would limit its functionality. Now, there are nonrecursive DNS servers, and that's another type, right?
