Recognizing the names of common top-level domains

- [Voiceover] Top Level Domains, or TLDs are the next level below the root servers, and boy, there's a lot of them. So, we just talked about the organization of the hierarchy, right? And we know that if you're a DNS resolver and you're out there recursively looking for something, you're gonna start at that root server, if you have never encountered the stuff or the time to live has expired. So, you're gonna go to the root server and it's going to refer you to the appropriate Top-Level Domain. And we've previously mentioned things like com, and org, and gov, and even uk and app. But I wanted to talk to you about those Top-Level Domains and how many there are and how astounding it is, the variety that's currently available. So, each of these in this set, com, org, net, int, edu, gov, mil, and even arpa, these are all traditional, these are all from the old days, back before we expanded the Top-Level Domain listings. And in fact, they were originally used for exactly what they sounded…
