- [Instructor] This course covers some advanced PowerShell techniques from automating the server configuration process to controlling the remote access capabilities of users and groups. While most of my courses don't have prerequisites, this one does start off with some more intermediate content. There are some things that you should be comfortable with to be able to get the most out of this course. PowerShell is currently available for Mac and for Linux, but it all started with Windows. To use the advanced automation practices here you should have a decent foundation in managing and administering Windows environments. We'll be configuring services, roles, features and more, things that are common in Windows networks. And it would be helpful to have somewhat of a base in these Windows components. The second thing is PowerShell itself. We will be creating blocks of code in many of the demonstrations beyond just running cmdlets. It would be advantageous to have som PowerShell skills to build on. The third thing, and I think I mention this pretty much all of my courses, is that you should be able to build out a virtual lab to try these processes out. I recorded this course using four virtual machines on a single Hyper-V server. There's a domain controller to manage the Active Directory. And the demonstrations are almost all run on the two member servers. And I have a Windows 10 workstation in there just for good measure. Probably the most important thing you need to be successful in this course is a desire to learn something new today. Consider what's going on in your own network, and see what you can find in this course that will make your day run a little more smoothly.
