What you should know

- [Instructor] There are a few things that you should know to get the most out of this course. As the course title and the opening video suggest, this course is about taking your PowerShell skills to the next level. It isn't necessary for you to be an expert or anything, but it would be helpful if you were already familiar with the basics of the PowerShell pipeline, how to create PowerShell functions, and using PowerShell to create external files. If you'd like a refresher in some of these areas, you may want to start with one of my previous courses on Learning PowerShell, or PowerShell Scripting. Another thing you should know, is that some of the demonstrations in this course, include code that would change your Active Directory environment. It's always a good idea to build a safe lab environment to experiment with these tools. In this course, I use a lab of three virtual machines on the same Hyper-V server. There's a domain controller, a Windows 2016 member server, and a Windows 10 Enterprise Workstation. This member server is where most of the demonstrations will take place. I mentioned that you don't need to be an expert at PowerShell to benefit from this course, the same goes for Windows Server Administration skills. The course doesn't follow a complex scenario or anything, but a basic understanding of how to create an Active Directory environment with users that are easily recognized from place to place, may prove helpful. Like I said at the onset, these are more recommendations than requirements, and I expect that both beginners and intermediate PowerShell users, will find their PowerShell skills elevated.
