- [Instructor] We're going to jump in the Wayback Machine so that I can show you how I created the custom list that we are using in this section of the course. I already had this data in Excel. As a matter of fact, when people wanted to know how many items were in inventory, they'd open a list in SharePoint and go check it out and say, okay, that's how many we have, that's good to know, but I actually wanted a list that was more flexible than that, that wasn't in a file that they could access directly, for example, from a mobile device, and that I could then update in SharePoint and other people could update it in SharePoint as well, the people who are conducting the physical inventory, for example, so rather than continue to maintain this list in Excel, where it's been for a long time, we made the decision to publish this.
