- [Instructor] Let's take another look at Version Control and Version History in SharePoint. It's unfortunate, but I think the majority of people are still saving distinct versions of files by renaming them, doing things like putting a V2 or the name and the date as a suffix to the file name. The thing is in SharePoint, this is not only completely unnecessary, it's also creating more opportunities for error. In the older version of SharePoint, you had to download a file, save it to your computer, work on it, save it to your computer, then re-upload it to SharePoint. That was the workflow. That was the way things worked. In the new version of SharePoint, particularly the online version, you don't have to do most of that. Instead you open the file and if it's a Microsoft Office file or one of the other supported formats, you can start working on it in an online browser-based version of the application. Now, I really…
