Plan server-to-server authentication
- [Instructor] So let's talk a little bit about planning server-to-server-authentication. So first, let me talk to you about something called Open Authorization 2.0 or referred to as OAuth for short. Now this is an open standard for authorization and is a way for users to gain limited access to a resource. An example of this might be like a website. And they can do this by using their Microsoft, Google, Facebook, or Twitter accounts to gain access to a website without sharing their password with the website provider. Server-to-server or S2S authentication uses the the OAuth protocol with its token exchange system. In SharePoint S2S authentication allows for servers that are S2S capable to access and request resources from one another on behalf of the users. Now keep in mind that the S2S authentication protocol used for SharePoint hybrid capabilities is separate from user authentication. So please make sure not to confuse…
