- [Instructor] When you log into SharePoint, you are able to interact with and access items in the site based on permissions that you have been granted. SharePoint uses role based access control, which allow SharePoint administrators to very precisely control access to SharePoint itself, to the sites within SharePoint and to different items like documents stored in sites. There are seven built in permission levels in SharePoint 2019, three of which we care about more than the others. But let me briefly describe them to you so you have an idea of how permissions work here. If you have full control permission over a site, you can do anything you want with that site up to and including deleting it. Designers have a permissions that are a bit more limited. They can view and add, update, delete, approve and more importantly they can customize the way things work. This is the permission level you would give to your website's designer.
