- When people don't expect a mother to be a boxer, I say why not? If anything, that should be the norm. Mothers are protectors and I think it's essential. My name is Blanca Ogawa, I'm from Ventura County, I'm a mother of four, and I like to box. I believe that my past inspired me to do boxing because of how I grew up, always the new chick. Survival of the fittest, I guess, you know? And I think it transitioned into my later years as becoming a mother. It's all about self-defense as well, to provide safety for my family. Working and being a mom, it's probably the hardest thing to find time to train. But I leave a little more confident every day. When I'm able to prove that I can land a good, clean punch, I can protect myself, I can be better. And that's my goal, to be better boxer, better mother, better business woman, and I think if I'm better in each aspect, it's only going to help the other part of me.
