Setting up an Interrotron the traditional way
- The traditional Interrotron setup requires at least six key pieces of gear. Two cameras on tripods, two teleprompters with monitors, and two long monitor cables. So you'd definitely need two cameras of some type to get the Interrotron setup popping, but you don't necessarily need two good cameras. You need one decent HD camera, of course, for your interviewee, but for the second camera you can get away with a low-grade consumer model if that's all you have, since the purpose of the second camera in this setup is usually just to stream a live video image to the teleprompter in front of your subject. Obviously if you want to also edit in the interviewer asking questions on camera as part of your project, then you actually want a second camera of equal or similar image quality trained on the interviewer as well. Now, if you don't already own a dedicated teleprompter, it's not a big deal because you can always rent one. And speaking of renting, if all this setup sounds like too much…
