- So those are the core methods we can use to deal with the challenges of shooting interiors with windows, but there are still a few miscellaneous tidbits and tips I want to share with you about this subject. One nasty surprise that often occurs once we've finally figured out the exposure and white balance issues is that once we set and adjust our lights for the scene so that they're bright enough to match the daylight outside, it's so bright in the room now that the window effectively becomes a mirror that simply reflects the interior scene back at us, instead of that awesome view we had planned on getting. You may be able to make some quick steps on the fly like changing the angle of the key light or adjusting the camera angle to hide or minimize the distraction of the reflection, but if all of those fail, using a circular polarizer will usually be a quick and effective solution to control unwanted window reflections.
