Female 1: So let's talk about why transcripts matter. First of all, it is a lot faster to glance down a page that's printed than it is to scrub through footage. I'm always kind of amazed at how many people don't make transcripts. Recently, I was delivered a project that was handed off from another producer, with literally thousands of hours of footage of interviews with no transcript. So the first thing I did was get them sent out right away. Because I needed to quickly scan. Get back up to speed on who was saying what, and be ready to dive into my edit. Another thing I like to do, is when I get the transcripts back, I use multicolored highlights. We've been talking a lot about future proofing, and using things for multiple deliverables. So, what I do is I come up with a color coding system and I have, let's say, yellow for the current production. Green for some topics that might be used in a down stream production.
