- [Narrator] If you've ever wondered how Sibelius is able to provide you with the correct staff type, clef, transposition, and full and short name for an instrument when you add it to the score, this lesson will clue you in on how those decisions are made behind the scenes. To see all of the properties that make up an instrument in Sibelius, we need to visit the Edit Instruments dialogue. You can get to the Edit Instruments dialogue by clicking on the dialogue launcher button at the Home tab Instruments Group right here. At first glance the Edit Instruments dialogue can be a bit intimidating, however it actually has a very simple arrangement that can be broken down into four large parts. From left to right, they are Ensembles, Instrument Families within the selected ensemble, Instruments within the selected family, and Instruments not in the selected ensembles or family which can be added if you'd like.
