Exploring the score page
As you begin using Sibelius, you should find that it's both sensible and flexible in terms of how it handles the graphic and theoretical aspects of musical notation. Let's start this exploration by opening our course file. Going to go to Open Other, and we're going to open from the chapter one folder the third file, 01_03.sib, or for those of you using the Sibelius example scores, you can open Funk.sib. Now Sibelius does have limitations that might be confusing or frustrating for you to work around at first, if you're new to the application. However, if you keep an open mind and trust that Sibelius more often than not imposes limitations for a good reason, you may discover that it's limitations and your initial frustrations lead to some of your favorite features by the time you finish this course.
