Move from a chorus to a bridge

- The role of a bridge in a pop song is to provide a variation or break from the repetition of the verse and the chorus. A bridge is sometimes referred to as the middle eight. And this is in reference to a bridge's length being eight bars which many times is the case in traditional verse/chorus/bridge forms. There are many ways to create the sense of relief a bridge provides. Sometimes this is accomplished through production or arrangement like a new instrument coming in or a shift in the rhythmic backing. This relief can also be achieved through the harmony of the song. One of the common ways to transition from a bridge to a chorus in a song in a major key is by moving from the tonic chord to the sixth chord.
