Transposing pitches and key signatures

- [Instructor] To transpose means to change a selected passage of music into a different key by changing all of the selected pitches by exactly the same interval at the same time. In Sibelius we accomplish this by using the transpose feature. Once again, there are a variety of ways to transpose in Sibelius and your selection plays a critical role in the outcome of the task and the availability of options. Before we continue, I should mention that I've messed with the key signatures and transpositions of this example score quite a bit. Feel free to take some time to play and read through it before continuing on with this lesson if you'd like to. Okay, when working with the transpose feature, it's important to understand the difference between transposing a passage versus changing its key signature.
