- Have you ever had these moments when you're writing a song and you just get stuck? Like when you got a great idea for a verse or a chorus, but you can't figure out how to turn it into a song. Or maybe you feel like all your songs sound similar and you're looking for a new way to write different kinds of songs. Believe it or not, there are techniques that songwriters use to change the way they look at a song, tried and true song-writing tools that can push you out of your current way of thinking and give you a new perspective. I'm going to show you ways you can take the fundamental elements of a song, the melody, the chords, and even the song's form itself and change them just enough to jump-start your inspiration. I've created songs specifically for this course, and I'm gonna sing and play them for you so you can see how these techniques work in real time. I've been writing songs professionally for almost 20 years and these are the tricks I've learned to dig myself out of holes, ways to cast new light on ideas that I thought were destined for the scrapheap. I'm Julian Velard and I'd love to show you all the tools I use so that you can gain new perspectives on your songwriting.
