Defining design principles

- [Instructor] UX designers work with engineers, product managers, content writers, marketing, and other disciplines. As a result, UX designers represent the voice of the user and are in the position to influence the product direction. Aligning stakeholders is a key aspect of the UX role. One way to keep everyone on the project aligned is by creating design principles. Design principles are sometimes used interchangeably with product principles. They are guidelines for the product based on a combination of user understanding and aspirational goals on what the product is and isn't. Here's an example from Asana. Asana is a project management tool. These design principles are specific, and without knowing too much about their process, these are clear enough guidelines that decisions around the product could be made, especially the principle to foster productive and emotionally-satisfying interpersonal dynamics.
