Hierarchy

- When designing the user interface, we need to establish which information is most important to the user and design the layout accordingly. Priority is communicated through designing a clear hierarchy. Typically, this most important information is the first item we want the user to see and read. In this example, you can see the page hierarchy clearly, both in the ordering of information and the size of the headings. Headings establish hierarchy when used to separate sections of a page. Typically, larger headings are at the top of the page and are used in smaller sizes on the rest of the page. Here's an example of how headings can help create more organization for this jury instructions web page. In its current state, all headings are treated at equal weight. Combined with the paragraphs of this text, this makes the page difficult to read. Adding headings of various weights makes this page a little easier to parse…
